The Bachelor of Arts Program in Political Science (Public Policy, Global Affairs, and Society) (International Program) (“PGS”), Faculty of Political Science, Chulalongkorn University, respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal data appropriately and in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019) (“PDPA”), applicable laws, and relevant Chulalongkorn University policies and regulations.

Personal Data We May Collect

When you use this website, contact PGS, submit an inquiry, complete an online form, or use a PGS online service, PGS may collect personal data that you voluntarily provide, such as your name, email address, student or applicant status, contact information, and the contents of your communication.

Where access requires authentication, PGS may also process information associated with your verified Chulalongkorn University account. The website or its supporting systems may automatically process limited technical information necessary for operation, security, authentication, troubleshooting, and prevention of misuse.

Please do not submit sensitive personal data or personal data that is not reasonably necessary for your inquiry unless specifically requested through an appropriate PGS or University process.

Purposes of Processing

Personal data may be collected, used, disclosed, or otherwise processed as reasonably necessary to:

•  respond to inquiries and provide requested information or services;
• administer PGS academic, admissions, student, and program-related activities;
• verify identity or user status where appropriate;
• direct communications to appropriate University personnel;
• maintain appropriate administrative and communication records;
• operate, maintain, secure, and improve PGS online services;
• prevent, investigate, or address misuse, fraud, security incidents, or other unlawful activities; and
• comply with applicable laws, regulations, University policies, official requests, and other lawful obligations.

PGS will process personal data on an appropriate lawful basis under applicable law, which may include consent where required, contractual necessity, compliance with legal obligations, performance of tasks in the public interest or exercise of official authority, legitimate interests where permitted, or other lawful grounds provided by the PDPA.

Disclosure and Service Providers

Access to personal data is limited, as appropriate, to authorized PGS or Chulalongkorn University personnel and third-party service providers or processors that support relevant University or PGS systems and services.

PGS does not sell personal data.

Personal data may be disclosed where reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Notice, within Chulalongkorn University, to authorized service providers, competent authorities, or other parties where permitted or required by applicable law.

Where services involve the processing or transfer of personal data outside Thailand, such processing or transfer will be handled in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

Retention and Security

Personal data will be retained for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, for appropriate administrative or record-keeping purposes, or as otherwise required or permitted by applicable law or University policy.

PGS and/or Chulalongkorn University apply appropriate administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect personal data against unauthorized or unlawful access, use, alteration, disclosure, loss, or destruction.

However, no website, electronic communication, or information system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Accordingly, while reasonable safeguards are applied, PGS does not warrant or guarantee absolute security except to the extent otherwise required by applicable law.

Your Rights

Subject to the conditions, limitations, and exceptions provided by applicable law, you may have rights concerning your personal data, including the right to request access, correction, deletion or anonymization, restriction of processing, objection to processing, and data portability, as well as the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

The exercise of any right is subject to applicable law, verification of identity, and any lawful grounds on which Chulalongkorn University or PGS may be required or permitted to retain or continue processing the relevant information.

For inquiries concerning personal data or the exercise of applicable rights, please contact pgs@chula.ac.th. Where appropriate, requests may be referred to the relevant Chulalongkorn University office or data-protection channel.

Third-Party Websites and Services

The PGS website may contain links to websites, platforms, or services operated by third parties. PGS does not control the privacy, security, content, or practices of independent third-party services. Users should review the applicable privacy policies and terms of those services before providing personal information.

Changes to This Privacy Notice

PGS may review, amend, or update this Privacy Notice from time to time to reflect changes in its services, systems, administrative practices, University policies, or applicable legal requirements. Unless otherwise required by law, an updated Notice becomes effective upon publication on the PGS website without individual prior notification.

Where an inquiry or online transaction records acceptance of a particular version of this Notice, PGS may retain a record of the version applicable at the time of submission.

Scope and Legal Effect

This Privacy Notice is intended to provide general information about the handling of personal data in connection with the PGS website and related services. It does not create any contractual right, representation, warranty, or obligation beyond those arising under applicable law or binding Chulalongkorn University regulations.

Nothing in this Notice limits any right or obligation that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded under the PDPA or other applicable law. In the event of any inconsistency between this Notice and applicable law or an official Chulalongkorn University policy or regulation, the applicable law, policy, or regulation shall prevail.
